ADPKD, as we know, is a genetic kidney disease which means that

ADPKD Why do You Get Anemia
if a parent has ADPKD, there is a 50% chance that each child born will inherit the disease.
The disease is characterised by numerous fluid-filled cysts in the kidneys and often the liver and pancreas. With the disease develops, some patients will find out that they have got anemia when they have physical examination in hospital. Why do patients with ADPKD have anemia? Some patients who have no anemia also are afraid that some day they will have anemia if the condition is not controlled well.
Why do patients with ADPKD have anemia? As we know, in ADPKD patients’ kidney, there are numerous cysts which contain yellowish fluid. With days passing by, the cysts will grow bigger. Consequently, the grown cysts will press or squeeze the tissues and intrinsic cells surrounding them. After the intrinsic cells are damaged, they can not secrete hemopoietin. Then, renal failure begins and anemia takes place. There are also some other reasons why patients with ADPKD have anemia.
1. The life span of red blood cells is shortened.
2. ADPKD develops into renal failure stage, toxins which is accumulated in the body will inhibit the red blood cell’s proliferation in marrow.
3. Some patients do not take in enough materials which can produce into blood for a long time such as protein, vitamins and iron.
4. ADPKD patients who have bleeding such as bleeding gums, mucocutaneous hemorrhage and tarry stool.
5. ADPKD patients who are under hemadialysis have bleeding lost when they have frequent blood test.
How to treat anemia of patients with ADPKD? As we mentioned above, the fundamental principle is to repair the damaged intrinsic cells which can produce erythropoietin. Firstly, it is necessary to shrink or diminish the cysts which squeeze the intrinsic cells and cause the damage of intrinsic cells. Only in this way, can the intrinsic cells stopped being damaged.
Can western medicine achieve this effect? In western medicine field, just puncture or LRCD is applied, both of which can just shrink or cut the grown cysts for the time being and can not diminish the cysts from root for just bigger cysts are solved, which make much room for those smaller ones. And day by day, smaller one will grow bigger, press the normal renal tissues and patients with ADPKD need. Therefore, patients should do operation again. Operation means wound and infection, so vicious circles take place.
Recently, an increasing number of patients with ADPKD all around the world start to get more interested in natural treatment. They try to apply herbs which have no side effect and can treat ADPKD from root. China is a country which has a long history, the traditional medicine of which is featured by Chinese medicine, abstracted from herbs, animals, etc.
