Summer is coming and it is hotter and hotter. People will change the diet
habit and plan. What should FSGS patients pay attention to? FSGS (Focal
Segmental Glomerulosclerosis is a traditional term, which on the view of
cytology, is termed as renal glomerular epithelial cell disease. Segmental means
the glomerulosclerosis does not diffuse to the whole glomeruli. In this stage,
if not controlled well, symptoms such as occult blood will occur. Besides
treatment, we should also pay attention to the diet, hoping it can assist the
treatment.
1. Limit sea food.
In China, in the evening of summer, many people have a habit to have toasted
sea food such as sleeve fish together with close friends, which is always
accompanied by beer. However, these are not suitable for patients with Focal
Segmental Glomerulosclerosis(FSGS). Sea food in particular can stimulate
patients and beer contains alcohol, which is also bad to the recover of FSGS
patients.
2. limit the intake of salt
patients with FSGS (Focal Segmental Glomerulosclerosis)should take in food
which is low in salt. We can control it under 3g in 24 hours. Don’t take in food
which contains much salt. More salt makes people drink more water. Kidney has
been damaged, which means the function of discharging water is damaged. If
excessive water is took in, water retention will take place, which leads to
edema or makes edema more serious.
3. don’t take in food which is too cold.
In summer, it is hot. And many people choose ice cream and so on, which is
not suitable for patients with FSGS. Once suffering from FSGS (Focal Segmental
Glomerulosclerosis), it means that the kidney is damaged and there is less blood
flow in the kidney. Cold drinks will go into stomach, which is near kidney. So
it is believed by some experts that the chill will spread to kidney, which
worsen insufficiency of blood for chill makes shrink of capillary vessels.
What should FSGS take in then? They can choose fresh fruit and vegetables and
food which is rich in high quality protein such as milk, lean meat and so on.
