The Daily Care for PKD Patients

Besides treatment, in daily life, what should patients with PKD do? In this passage, we will mainly introduce what patients with PKD should pay attention to.
Firstly, if patients have symptoms or having increased serum creatinine, they should limit the intake of salt and protein. Polycystic Kidney Disease is due to the abnormal proliferation of renal epithelial cells. Once they are damaged, the discharge of urine will be influenced, which leads to edema. So patients with PKD should limit the intake of salt, or else, edema or swelling will become serious.
Secondly, PKD patients should have enough sleep and keep good for bad mood can speed up the growth of cysts. Don’t sleep too late. Even in a holiday, we have several days off, please keep regular habit and follow the schedules strictly.
Thirdly, do not do strenuous exercise such as jump, long time waking, and so on, which may hit the cysts which grow out of kidney, leading the breaking of cyst. If the cysts bleed, infection will take place. And if the peritoneum is damaged, peritonitis will take place, which may even threaten patients’ life. As for the exercise, they can choose Yoga, jogging, and so on, which is slow and moderate and do good to enhancing the immune ability of PKD patients.
Fourthly, stop smoking and drinking alcohol, both of which can increase the growth of the cysts. In addition, they should not have too spicy food and sea food, both of which can also stimulate the growth of the cysts as well. They can not eat animal’s internal organs especially liver for in the slaughter, many toxins remain in the liver due to liver’s discharging toxins function. If PKD patients have more liver, it will worsen the condition.
At last, they should have more food rich in vitamin, and iron such as fruits and vegetables. PKD patients can also have more basic food. PKD patients should keep low protein diet, and avoid eating bean product such as bean curd, which will produce more nitrogen, and increase the work burden of the damaged kidney.
