What is the relationship between hyperkeratosis and Nephrotic Syndrome? To
solve this problem, we should firstly explain the main symptoms of patients with
Nephrotic Syndrome. Symptoms of Nephrotic Syndrome may include edema (swelling
of face, abdomen and body), proteinuria (passing of protein in urine),
hypoalbuminemia (low level of proteins in blood), and hyperlipidemia (high
amount of lipids in blood).
The first symptom is a large amount of protein in urine, the amount of which
is more than 3.5g per 24 hours. Most of the protein in urine is selective
proteinuria. It is just this symptom which leads to the following symptoms. The
first result of a large amount of protein in urine directly is hypoalbuminemia,
which is less than 30g/L.
The key point is that long time hypoalbuminemia, or long time protein lost in
urine leads to the malnutrition, the manifestation of which is dry hair and
withered hair, hyperkeratosis of hair follicle. We can also say that it is
Nephrotic Syndrome that causes hyperkeratosis.
How to solve the problem of hyperkeratosis caused by Nephrotic Syndrome? From
the above mentioned, we can get a conclusion that the direct reason of
hyperkeratosis is the long time low protein in plasma, which is called
hypoalbuminemia for short and the indirect reason of hyperkeratosis is the lost
of protein in urine. We can also get a conclusion that the root cause of
hyperkeratosis is the lost protein in urine. Therefore, to solve the problem, we
should focus on the diminishing of the protein in urine, and only in this way,
can we treat hyperkeratosis fundamentally.
How to treat low protein in urine? To solve this problem, we should find out
the reason firstly. Kidney can function well because of the millions of renal
units, which can also be called renal nephrons. In each renal unit, there is a
renal glomeruli. And in each renal glomeruli, there is a filtration barrier,
which is made up of renal basilar membrane, and so on. When the filtration
barrier is damaged, for example, when there is something wrong in the renal
glomerular basilar membrane, the pores will be bigger in the basilar. In this
case, some bigger molecules which should not have been out pass through it can
pass through such as protein, thus causing protein in urine. So we should take
treatment measures to diminish the protein in urine.
Chinese Medicine contains much nutritious materials and active substances,
which can improve the insufficiency of blood and oxygen in the kidney, thus
creating a good inner environment. After that, the effective materials can enter
the nidus and repair the damaged intrinsic cells such as filtration barrier,
thus stopping the leaking out of protein.
After this, protein in urine can be relieved, and then low protein in plasma
can also be relieved consequently. Hyperkeratosis in Nephrotic Syndrome will
also disappear.
